Safar ul Ishq (4)
Do not rejoice at the death of your enemy because your friends too have to die,
The day shall pass O Muhammad; the afternoon sun is soon going to set.
The day shall pass O Muhammad; the afternoon sun is soon going to set.
Safar ul Ishq (3)
Come, O dear girl, fill your pitcher with water before the sun goes down,
When the sun sets and darkness prevails, you’ll be afraid of going home alone.
Safar ul Ishq (2)
Not for ever the bulbul sings in the garden, not for ever is the enjoyment of spring,
Not for ever is mother, Father, Beauty, Youth; not for ever is the company of friends.
Not for ever is mother, Father, Beauty, Youth; not for ever is the company of friends.
–
Safar ul Ishq (1)
Gardens, spring, and rose gardens, without friends of what use?
If I meet the friend, thousands of sorrows will be gone; I will be grateful a hundred thousand times.
Plans of God
Why ponder
thus, the fortune to forsee,
and jade they brain
to vain perplexity,
Cast off thy care,
leave Allah's (God's) plans to Him,
He made them all,
Without consulting thee.
- Omar Khayyam's The Rubaiyat.
Musalman
“Mai aik
ese kitab khareedna chahta hun jis mai sada andaz mai bataya gaya ho ke
musalman ka matlab kya hai.”
“Kya ap
gher musalman hain?”
“Je nahe, Allah ke fazal se mai musalman hun. Dar-asal mai pedaishi
musalman hun."
"Muh zubani musalman? Jis ne kalma parhlia wo musalman hai."
"Bilkul mai ne bhi kalma parhlia hai. Mai bhi musalman hun, leken jan’na
chahta hun ke musalman ka matlab kya hai."
"Tou Islam par kitabain parheye."
"Parhe hain, buhat parhe hain. Shayad isi wajah se confuse hogaya hun. Wese
bhi kitab aur cheez hai, musalman aur cheez."
- Excerpts from Talash by Mumtaz Mufti
Taqreer
Taqreer mai buhat kuch hota hai. Josh hota hai, jazba hota hai,
khatabat hote hai, na’ray hote hain leken asar nae hota. Dalelain tou hote hain
magar pata nae ese kyun hota hai leken ese hota hai, ke behes ya daleed se
kabhi koi qail nae hua.
Ulma ke
taqreerain pehle se tayar ke hue hote hain. Ratti hue hote hain. Theoretical
hote hain. Sirf honton se deliver ke jate hain. In mai dil shamil nae hota. Dil
shamil na ho tou asar kesa?

Rule # 3
Each and every reader comprehends the Holy
Qur’an on a different level in tandem with the depth of his understanding.
There are four levels of insight. The first level is the outer meaning and it
is the one that the majority of the people are content with. Next is the
Batm—the inner level. Third, there is the inner of the inner. And the fourth
level is so deep it cannot be put into words and is therefore bound to remain
indescribable.

Forty Rules of the Religion of Love by Shams Tabrezi
Rule # 2
The Path to the Truth is a labor of the heart,
not of the head. Make your heart your primary guide! Not your mind. Meet,
challenge, and ultimately prevail over your nafs with your heart. Knowing
your ego will lead you to the knowledge of God.
- The
Forty Rules of the Religion of Love by Shams Tabrezi
Rule # 1
How we see God is a direct
reflection of how we see ourselves. If God brings to mind mostly fear and
blame, it means there is too much fear and blame welled inside us. If we
see God as full of love and compassion, so are we.

A son
Piddri nizam ke muashray mai har aurat ko betay ke pedaish ehsas e tahafuz ata karte hai, jesay tarazu ka wo palra jisse saas apne betay samait uthne nahe dete, aik dam barabar hogaya ho. - Mansha Yad.

What you cannot imagine; I shall be that
"I died from minerality and became vegetable; And From vegetativeness I died and became animal.
I died from animality and became man.
Then why fear disappearance through death?
Next time I shall die
Bringing forth wings and feathers like angels;
After that, soaring higher than angels -
What you cannot imagine;
I shall be that."
Rumi (Mathnawi III, 1284-1288)

Khabaram Raseed Imshab - Tonight there came a news
Khabaram raseed imshab ki nigaar khuahi aamad;
Sar-e man fidaa-e raah-e ki sawaar khuahi aamad.
Ham-e aahwan-e sehra sar-e khud nihada bar kaf;
Ba-umeed aanki rozi bashikaar khuahi aamad.
Kashishi ki ishq daarad naguzaradat badinsaa;
Ba-janazah gar nayai ba-mazaar khuahi aamad.
Balabam raseed jaanam fabiya ki zindah maanam;
Pas azan ki man na-maanam bacha kar khuahi aaamad.
Translation:
Tonight there came a news that you, oh beloved, would come –
Be my head sacrificed to the road along which you will come riding!
All the gazelles of the desert have put their heads on their hands
In the hope that one day you will come to hunt them….
The attraction of love won’t leave you unmoved;
Should you not come to my funeral,
you’ll definitely come to my grave.
My soul has come on my lips (e.g. I am on the point of expiring);
Come so that I may remain alive -
After I am no longer – for what purpose will you come?

Patience
Patience is not sitting and waiting, it is foreseeing.
It is looking at the thorn and seeing the rose.

Sheb-i-Arus [Wedding Night]
MAWLANA JALAL AL-DIN AL-RUMI passed away on Dec 17, 1273. This date is known as Sheb-i Arus (Wedding Night). Every year the 17th of December is celebrated as the night of Rumi's reunion with his Beloved.
When I die
when my coffin
is being taken out
you must never think
i am missing this world
don’t shed any tears
don’t lament or
feel sorry
i’m not falling
into a monster’s abyss
when you see
my corpse is being carried
don’t cry for my leaving
i’m not leaving
i’m arriving at eternal love
when you leave me
in the grave
don’t say goodbye
remember a grave is
only a curtain
for the paradise behind
you’ll only see me
descending into a grave
now watch me rise
how can there be an end
when the sun sets or
the moon goes down
it looks like the end
it seems like a sunset
but in reality it is a dawn
when the grave locks you up
that is when your soul is freed
have you ever seen
a seed fallen to earth
not rise with a new life
why should you doubt the rise
of a seed named human
have you ever seen
a bucket lowered into a well
coming back empty
why lament for a soul
when it can come back
like Joseph from the well
when for the last time
you close your mouth
your words and soul
will belong to the world of
no place no time.

Dil e Nadan
Dil e Nadan tujhe hua kya hai
Akhir is dard ke dawa kya hai
Hum hain mushtaq aur wo bayzar
Ya Ilahi ye majra kya
hai
Mai bhi muh mai zuban
rakhta hun
Kaash pocho ke muda’a
kya hai
Jab ke tujh bin nahe koi
maujood
Phir ye hangama ay
Khuda kya hai
Sabza-o-gul kahan se aye
hain
Abar kya cheez hai, hawa
kya hai
Hum ko unse wafa ke
hai umeed
Jo nahe jantay wafa kya hai
Haan bhala kar, tera
bhala hoga
Aur darwesh ki sada kya
hai
Jaan tum par nisar karta
hun
Mai nahe janta dua kya
hai
Mai ne mana ke kuch nahe
Ghalib
Muft hath aye tou bura
kya hai
~ Ghalib.

Sahara
Excerpt from ‘Alakh Nagri’
Allah baybasi kay alam mai humare liye aik
azeem sahara hai. Thake haray hue bojhal sar ke liye takiya jis pe sar rakh kar
hum sukoon pa sakte hain.
~ Mumtaz Mufti.
Shukar
Shukar ke sahih tareef kya hai? Apne asaishon
mai apne pas hasil hone wale naymaton mai un logon ko shareek karna jin ke pas
ye asaishen aur naymaten nahe hain. Shukar ka matlab ye bhi hai ke logon ko ap
apne amaal se, apne maal se, apne khiyal se asani at’aa karen. Shukar karne
wala aik phal-daar shakh hai jo jhuk jati hai. Aur gilla aik bay-samar shakh
hai jo atak jati hai.
~ Wasif Ali Wasif.
